case study · a brand new whitsundays hire business

From Zero To #1 On Google

A brand new hire business in Airlie Beach. No website, no reviews, and up against national chains and locals with years of head start. Here's how I set them up to compete from day one. Website design and SEO by Ripple Effect Online.

the challenge

Starting From Zero

Hank's is a local, family owned dry hire business. Mini excavator, skid steer, tipper, trailers and more, for tradies, contractors and DIY jobs across the Whitsundays.

When they came to me they had a new business name, no website, an empty Google profile and not one review. Every other hire business in the area already had a head start, and the national chains have big budgets. Hank's couldn't win on size or on a cheap day rate, so it had to win on something else.

What The Others Couldn't Say

📞

24/7 Phone

Most hire places run business hours. Hank's answers day or night, with a callback within an hour. That became the lead message.

🌧️

No Deposit, Flexible Cancellation

Whitsundays weather wrecks plans. Being able to cancel without a penalty is a real reason to pick Hank's over someone else.

🏡

Local And Family Owned

An owner operator based in Airlie Beach, not a branch of a national chain.

🚜

Named Gear

CAT and Isuzu machines with real specs, not "various sizes available".

A new business can't out-review the old ones on day one. It can win on promises that are true, specific and hard to copy.

what I built

Built To Get Found

01

One Page Per Machine

People search for a tipper differently to a tilt trailer. Each machine got its own page, so every search has its own answer.

02

Copy Tradies Actually Read

Real specs and straight answers. Will the excavator fit through my gate? What licence do I need for the tipper? The questions people would otherwise ring about.

03

Google Profile To Match

The empty Google profile set up properly, telling the same story as the website, with a simple way to start collecting reviews.

Handed Over Properly.

A website only keeps working if someone keeps it alive. I showed Hank's how to post on Google and reply to reviews, and I keep adding pages as the business grows.
